Eye rolling fun

Cleaning. There are all those little "cleaning" things one's mother always asked one to do that caused one to roll one's eyes, whine, scoff, and get in trouble for eye rolling whining and scoffing. Cleaning the top of the fan for instance, "Who can even see up there?" vacuuming the curtains, "why would someone even care?" cleaning the baseboards, "What?? ALL of them?" scrubbing the ceilings, " seriously??"    And now here I am. Doing all of those same crazy ridiculous things. Won't it be fun to maybe someday have a little me whining, scoffing, eye rolling, and sitting in time out  in the background?;)

Breaktime goals

It is officially Christmas break! Hurray! Now, other than the usual merriment and Christmas happenings- which of course will also be commencing, I dedicate this break to...getting stuff done! My first goal is to clean the house in a way that when I am done you can safely and happily lick icecream off the floor and possibly be the better for it. We are trying to get our house refinanced and this Thursday is when we are to show it off. My second goal is to get at least two weeks ahead in lesson plans for my Jewish History class! All semester I have told myself I would do this and instead I find myself- ehem-blogging or chatting or eating or.... So with two weeks of freedom I want to learn to be the kind of teacher that is a good two steps ahead of her students instead of this previous semester's 3/4 of a step. My third goal is to get into a better working out and fixing good food habit. Fourthly, I want to READ more! And lastly, I want to practice my poor little neglected cello at least five times a week for the next couple of weeks. My lazy fingers have gotten so out of shape that they are complaining in about five minutes of use. This then causes my ears to stick up their noses and start walking away, which hurts my brain's feelings and then you have this whole unhappy mess of broken relationships instead of any form of music being produced. So there you have them. My goals in all their splendor and I will let you know how they are coming;)

And it begins

Today was a lazy, prettily-post-snowy sort of sunday. Blake and I spent the day going to church, going to Costco for a Christmas tree and getting hotdogs and pizza instead, driving around our neighborhood for way too long looking at fallen trees from the windstorm a few days ago( yeah, we are those people apparently:)) watching Crocodile Dundee for, lets just say, not our first time, and attempting to keep Toby( our naughty but cute almost one year old pup) from treating the kitties like breathing chew toys.
There is something about that good ol' movie from the eighties. It's got the classic eighties music, the fantastic hairstyles and fashion, and to top it all off, the cheesily heartwarming plot that makes you come back to it again and again. Who doesn't want to watch a story about a New York reporter meeting the croc-wrestling, knife wielding, Australian bush-raised man of her dreams? Count us in!
Tonight I am going to attempt to cook something healthy to combat our weekend pizza and hot dog diet. I have tried to be better at this whole healthy food and exercise thing. It works reasonably well on weekdays but the weekends come in all their glory and steal away my motivation. Practice makes perfect I suppose so I think I'll bring out the Yams!
Well I better get to it, so this, ladies and gentlemen, albeit short and sweet, is my first-ever blog post. Hurray!
